Pakistan Down Syndrome Association (PDSA)

The Pakistan Down Syndrome Association (PDSA Pakistan), in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, held a remarkable Assistive Devices Distribution Ceremony in District Korangi, Karachi.

This event marked another significant step toward inclusive growth and accessibility for persons with disabilities in Pakistan. Through this initiative, wheelchairs, tricycles, and tri-motorbikes were distributed to enhance mobility, independence, and participation for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.

Chief Guest Mr. Tauha Ahmed Faruqui, Secretary DEPD, emphasized the Sindh Government’s commitment to inclusion and accessibility. He announced an increase in the annual allocation for assistive devices from PKR 400 million to PKR 800 million, ensuring greater support for underprivileged and differently-abled individuals across Sindh.

Distinguished guests, including Mr. Masood Ahmed Bhutto (Deputy Commissioner Korangi) and Mr. Naeem Ahmed Sheikh (Chairman Korangi Town), applauded the joint efforts of PDSA Pakistan and DEPD Sindh in empowering the differently-abled community through consistent advocacy and service delivery.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abid Lashari, CEO of PDSA Pakistan, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Sindh for its partnership. He reiterated PDSA’s dedication to providing free therapy, rehabilitation, and inclusive education services for children with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities across Karachi.

This initiative stands as a testament to public-private collaboration for a more inclusive, barrier-free, and empowered society for persons with disabilities in Pakistan.
