What Pakistan Down Syndrome Association Provide

Recognized for its international collaborations, PDSA is a proud member of the World Patient Alliance (WPA) USA, the Rare Disease Foundation USA, and other global forums dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

At Pakistan Down Syndrome Association (PDSA), we are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with Down syndrome by providing essential medical care, therapy, and support services. Our mission is to empower, uplift, and create opportunities for a brighter future.

Who We Are

A trusted partner organization of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh.

PDSA Karachi has established Rehabilitation Centre in July 2023 to cater needs of rehabilitation to the Children with Intellectual Disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism, ADHD, CP, Dyslexia & others. The Centre provides free Screening, Assessment, Physiotherapy, Psychotherapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Non formal Education, Social engagements, entertainments with Boarding & Day Care facility.

Our programs focus on education, therapy, skill development, and advocacy

PDSA operates specialized rehabilitation centers that provide comprehensive services to children with Down Syndrome. These services include physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychotherapy, and non-formal education. The centers aim to enhance the physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being of children with Down Syndrome, helping them achieve their full potential in a supportive environment.

These centers focus on equipping young individuals with Down Syndrome & persons with disabilities with essential skills for independent living and meaningful employment. Through vocational training, life skills education, and tailored programs, the centers empower youth to become active contributors to society while fostering their confidence and self-reliance.

PDSA is committed to promoting the rights and inclusion of children with Down Syndrome. This program involves public awareness campaigns, policy advocacy, and collaboration with government bodies and international organizations. The goal is to eliminate stigma, ensure access to education and healthcare, and uphold the dignity and rights of individuals with Down Syndrome at all levels of society.

  • Preparedness and Training: PDSA provides training to families, caregivers, and community members on disaster preparedness tailored to the needs of individuals with Down Syndrome.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Collaborates with government and humanitarian organizations to ensure inclusive emergency response plans that address the specific needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Resilience Building: Implements community-based resilience programs that equip individuals with disabilities and their families with coping mechanisms for natural and man-made disasters.
  • Community Engagement: Advocates for the inclusion of persons with Down Syndrome in community planning and development projects to ensure accessibility and equal participation.
  • Infrastructure Development: Promotes the adoption of universal design principles in infrastructure to make spaces accessible and inclusive for all.
  • Capacity Building: Collaborates with local governments and organizations to raise awareness and build the capacity of stakeholders to address the unique challenges faced by individuals with intellectual disabilities in development and disaster contexts

SYEDA ALISHBA AMIN-UD-DIN

As the Ambassador of PDSA Pakistan, Syeda Alishba Amin-ud-Din is an artist, social inclusion activist, and entrepreneur. She is the Founder/CEO of Alishba's Art n Cafe, a language enthusiast, and a member of the Global Advocacy Team DSI. Her dedication continues to inspire and empower the Down syndrome community.
