KARACHI: In recognition of her services, Syeda Alishba Amin-ud-Din was presented a commemorative shield by the Secretary Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) Govt of Sindh Tauha Farooqui, here on Friday (1st of Dec, 2023).
Tauha Farooqui along with Ghulam Asim (Additional Secretary DEPD), Ghulam Muhammad Abro (Section Officer DEPD) and Abid Lashari President Pakistan Down Syndrome Association (PDSA) visited Alishba’s Art n Café located in DHA’s Bukhari Commercial Area.
They appreciated her oeuvres and lauded the venture she is carrying out despite having Down Syndrome.
Founder/CEO Syeda Alishba Amin-ud-Din with her mother Dr. Iffet Sultana, Co-founder Alishba’s Art n Café discussed the importance of social inclusion and shared their experiences with them.
It’s pertinent to mention here that, according to WHO, some 15 % of the world’s population are persons with disabilities.
Similarly, the Province of Sindh considerable percentage of Sindh’s populace consist of special people.
Unfortunately, they’re the poorest among the poor and one of some hard hit groups that face social, attitudinal and physical obstacles/ discrimination.
To cope with this extreme scenario vocational education, rehabilitation with the aid of assistive technology, early life skills ability development and early training to transform them into citizens contributing towards the developmental process of their region.
