Assistive Devices Distribution Ceremony by PDSA Pakistan and DEPD Sindh

The Pakistan Down Syndrome Association (PDSA Pakistan), in partnership with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, successfully organized an Assistive Devices Distribution Ceremony in District Korangi, Karachi.

The event aimed to empower persons with disabilities in Sindh by improving their mobility, accessibility, and independence through the distribution of wheelchairs, tricycles, and tri-motorbikes.

Mr. Tauha Ahmed Faruqui, Secretary DEPD, attended as the Chief Guest and announced the Sindh Government’s initiative to increase the annual budget for assistive devices from PKR 400 million to PKR 800 million, ensuring a wider reach for disability empowerment programs across Sindh.

The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Masood Ahmed Bhutto (Deputy Commissioner Korangi) and Mr. Naeem Ahmed Sheik (Chairman Korangi Town), who appreciated PDSA’s ongoing collaboration with DEPD in promoting inclusive development and disability rights in Karachi.

Mr. Abid Lashari, CEO of PDSA Pakistan, expressed gratitude for the government’s continuous support and reaffirmed the organization’s mission to provide free rehabilitation, therapy, and inclusive education services for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
